About organ donation
Live on, Live twice.
Organ donation is a generous and honourable act of kindness which transforms lives. For patients with end stage organ failure, organ transplant is usually the only solution.
Receiving an organ transplant is not only a life-changing event for the patients, but also for their families. Some patients may receive an organ from a living donor while others are placed on the national waiting list [PDF, 103 KB] for the chance to receive an organ from a deceased donor.
Through this, a deceased organ donor leaves his/her legacy and continues to live on through their recipients who have gained a second lease of life.
💡 Did you know?
There are over 400 individuals on the waiting list for an organ transplant. The average waiting time for a deceased donor kidney transplant is 8 to 9 years.* While waiting, they may develop other medical problems, causing their condition to deteriorate.
